LyondellBasell’s Richard Roudeix named chairman of Cefic’s Climate Change and Energy Programme Council
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands Jan. 10, 2018 -- LyondellBasell (NYSE:LYB), one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world, today announced that Richard Roudeix, senior vice president of Olefins and Polyolefins ̶ Europe, Asia and International has been named chairman of Cefic’s Climate Change and Energy Programme Council. Founded in 1972, Cefic, the European Chemistry Industry Council, is the voice of large, medium and small chemical companies across Europe, which provide 1.2 million jobs and account for 14.7% of world chemicals production. Roudeix has served on the board of Cefic since January 2016 and was later appointed to the executive committee in October of the same year. As the new chair of the organisation’s Climate Change and Energy Programme Council, Roudeix will help guide the European chemical industry in developing opportunities to foster a secure, competitive and sustainable energy supply and position the industry as provider of energy-efficient solutions to European value-chains. This is the first time that LyondellBasell chairs one of Cefic’s five Programme Councils. “As an industry we are working to deliver solutions to move toward a lower-carbon world, but we have two challenges: to preserve our competitiveness while also preserving our environment,” Roudeix said. “It is an honour to be chosen by my peers in the industry to help lead our actions in this critical area.” Prior to his current role, Roudeix held several leadership roles at LyondellBasell and its predecessor companies. A French national, Roudeix graduated as a civil engineer from the prestigious École des Mines and completed a post-graduate programme at the French Petroleum Institute’s École nationale supérieure du pétrole et des moteurs. Roudeix also serves on the steering board of PlasticsEurope and the board of directors of EPCA, the European Petrochemical Association.
