LyondellBasell’s James Seward elected chairman of the World Plastics Council
HOUSTON and ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Jan. 24, 2018) -- LyondellBasell (NYSE:LYB), one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world, today announced that its vice president of joint ventures and international marketing, James Seward, has been elected chairman of the World Plastics Council. Founded in 2014, the World Plastics Council is a global trade organization that advocates for the responsible use of plastics and represents the global industry towards international organizations including the United Nations and the G20. Seward’s term as chairman will last three years. “I’m honored to be chosen by my peers to help lead a discussion about some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing our industry today,” Seward said. “Everyone, including the leaders in our industry, should be concerned today about the rising amount of pollution in our oceans. I’m looking forward to working with our industry colleagues, government officials our customers and other stakeholders as we move together toward a more sustainable future.” Seward has worked for LyondellBasell and its predecessor companies for 29 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and a Master’s in Business Administration from Cranfield School of Management, both in the United Kingdom.
