ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, February 21, 2018 – LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB) today announced that Dongming Hengchang Petrochemical Co., Ltd, has selected LyondellBasell Spheripol polypropylene technology for a 200KT per year plant in Heze City, Shandong Province, China. The latest-generation of Spheripol process design utilizes the newest catalyst technology, enabling the production of its recognized market-leading , reactor-based product families with increased efficiency. Polypropylene grades produced with the Spheripol process are used to manufacture film for the safe storage of food, plastic pipes for the delivery of drinking water and wastewater removal and sterile syringes in modern healthcare.

Spheripol is the leading PP process technology with more than 22 million tons of licensed capacity. The latest fifth generation Spheripol includes process improvements that further maximize operational efficiency. The technology allows for the production of a broad spectrum of homopolymers, random copolymers and heterophasic impact and specialty impact copolymers, as well as terpolymers. Application examples of PP products produced by Spheripol are thin-walled, rigid packaging items that are light and strong, packaging containers that preserve food, and polypropylene pipes that safely transport water.
