Equistar.com Now Features Advanced Polymer Search

HOUSTON, June 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Equistar Chemicals, LP, has added advanced product search functionality to its polymers web site. Customers can now easily identify which of the company's 324 polymer products meet their specifications.

According to Vaughn Deasy, Vice President, Polymers Sales, advanced search capabilities were a logical extension of the company's commitment to harnessing technology for the benefit of customers. "We recognized that customers generally start with very specific property or performance requirements. While they don't want to spend a lot of time looking through data sheets to find a polymer that meets their needs, they do like to use our web site to get product information. Our new search function should make finding the right polymer simpler and faster."

Visitors to the site starting from the www.equistar.com home page should select polymers from the left-hand navigation and click on Product Information to get to the polymers home page and access the Advanced Product Search button.

From there, customers can search by polymer type or application. At the next screen, they have the option to search via a keyword or phrase or via 27 specific polymer properties-including secant modulus, density, tear strength, flexural modulus, melt flow and others -- for which they can input the required parameters. By continuing to add keywords or properties, customers can narrow down the list of possible products and identify the most relevant Equistar polymers. Search results include data sheets and MSDS for polymers meeting the search parameters.
