Dr. William Spivey, of Lucent Technologies, Elected to Lyondell Board of Directors

HOUSTON, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Lyondell Chemical Company (NYSE: LYO) announced that Dr. William R. Spivey has been elected to the Company's Board of Directors. The size of the Board remains at eight, seven of whom are outside directors.

Dr. Spivey, 53, is Group President, Network Products Group for Lucent Technologies. He is responsible for leading Lucent's efforts in the manufacturing, development, product marketing and management for cable and power systems businesses. Dr. Spivey also has served as Vice President, Systems and Components for Lucent's Microelectronics Group.

Prior to joining Lucent, Dr. Spivey was President of Tektronix Development Company for Tektronix, Inc. He also held senior management positions with AT&T, Honeywell, Inc. and General Electric. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Novellus Systems, Inc., The Raytheon Company and Cascade Microtech, Inc. Dr. Spivey earned bachelor's and master's degrees in physics and a Ph.D. in administration management.
