HOUSTON, May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of Directors of Lyondell Chemical Company (NYSE: LYO) has elected Eric Silva to the position of Vice President, Information Technology, effective June 1 with the retirement of Robert Tolbert.

Most recently Director of Human Resource Services, Silva joined Lyondell in 1985 and has held a variety of positions in accounting, treasury and Human Resources. He played a key role in a number of special projects, including Lyondell's integration of Equistar Chemicals, LP, Equistar's SAP implementation and Lyondell's process reengineering initiatives.

Silva holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas.
