Basell to exhibit at CPhI India 2007

Recent PP and PE product innovations to be featured

November 22, 2007 – Basell, the global leader in polyolefins technology, production and marketing, will feature its Purell resins at CPhI India 2007, the leading fair for the pharmaceutical industry. The fair will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, India from November 25 to 27. Basell will be located at Hall 6, Booth I4-5.

Purell resins are Basell’s PE and PP resins targeting the medical and pharmaceutical markets by addressing the specific requirements of medical and pharmaceutical customers such as high performance, flexibility and stability. Customers use Purell resins mainly for applications in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, medical device, laboratory, syringe and diagnostics industries.

“Our presence at CPhI India signals our commitment to the rapidly growing Indian and Asian medical and pharmaceutical markets,” said Mitchell Killeen, Basell’s head of marketing for Polyolefins International. “Customers will learn about our latest resin innovations used in customer medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging.”

“Asian customers benefit not only from the global presence and service of our Purell resins medical team, but from our joint ventures in Asia. Our HMC Polymers and PolyMirae joint ventures supply Purell random copolymer grades used in customer extrusion and injection stretch blow moulding applications,” he added.

The Purell range of low and high density polyethylene resins can address a variety of customer design, regulatory and functionality needs.  "For over 20 years, Basell LDPE resins have been used by customers in blow-fill-seal applications in the Indian market," said Hein Hofmayer, Purell Project Manager, "We remain committed to our customers in this sector by developing new grades which meet customers’ increasing needs.”

The Basell medical products team will be on hand to share the company’s new Purell resins medical procedures, which are designed to ensure high quality standards and support customers in the regulatory process.

The Basell-developed Medical Procedure has been specifically designed to ensure high quality standards within the development of resins used by medical manufacturers with special requirements. Their products must undergo an intensive validation process before they are approved for use by the relevant regulatory authorities, which can take months to complete. As part of Basell’s Medical Procedure converters and final part producers can receive certain regulatory support to assist customers in the approval process for their final products.
