Basell’s new Hostalen GX4041 HDPE used in blown film delivers stiffness and impact performance sought by customers

Using its proprietary Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process (ACP), Basell has developed a new HDPE grade -- Hostalen GX4041 – that offers blown film converters a combination of stiffness and impact performance that they require for applications such as lamination film, release film (bitumen film), paper-like film, label film, bags and heavy duty bag packaging.

According to Joerg Auffermann, Technical Service Manager for Basell Polyolefins Europe, customers continue to seek higher-performing materials in these markets.

“High quality thin film production operations require materials that can be processed on blown film lines at high output rates with excellent bubble stability, very low gel levels and homogeneous appearance,” said Auffermann. “Converters and end-users alike have asked us to provide them with new materials that bring improved stiffness and impact performance without sacrificing their productivity or surface appearance requirements. The material is now available for pre-marketing, and we invite customers to assess our new Hostalen GX4041 resin, part of Basell’s Hostalen HDPE family of materials.”

Industrial trials have shown that Hostalen GX4041 can offer approximately 30-40% improved dart drop performance capabilities versus the current market benchmark, Hostalen GM9255F2. In addition, Hostalen GX4041 can enable the production of film with a very broad conversion window, good lay flat properties and excellent roll configuration.
