Mainz, Germany, April 12, 2002 -- Basell’s ability to supply Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) to customers in Europe has been affected by a shortage of ethylene feedstock from Shell’s cracker in Moerdijk, The Netherlands.

"We do not know how long the current situation will last and we are doing everything to minimise the impact on our customers," said Manfred Klepacz, business manager LLDPE & HDPE film.

Basell produces polypropylene, polyethylene and advanced polyolefin products and also develops and licenses polypropylene and polyethylene processes and catalysts. Basell serves customers in more than 120 countries with materials produced in 18 countries.
