Adflex TPO delivers improved performance in Ford Freestar's pillars

An Adflex thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) from Basell that is used in the A, B, C and D pillars for the 2005 Ford Freestar delivers improved performance over traditional materials.

According to Steve Dwyer, senior vice president of Basell Advanced Polyolefins, “The resin offers superior impact strength at low temperatures, which enabled Ford to replace two incumbent materials with one.”

Adflex KE051P is based on Basell’s proprietary Catalloy process technology. Catalloy process technology is able to produce tailored products with up to 80% elastomer. This provides an outstanding combination of toughness, heat resistance and stiffness for demanding customer applications. The product is natural and colored at the press.

Basell is the world's largest producer of polypropylene and advanced polyolefin products, a leading supplier of polyethylene and catalysts, and a global leader in the development and licensing of polypropylene and polyethylene processes. Basell, together with its joint ventures, has manufacturing facilities around the world and sells products in more than 120 countries.
