Basell announces changes in company's management

Basell today announced changes in the company’s management that take effect April 1.

Werner Breuers becomes president of Basell Polyolefins Europe, succeeding Robert Genin, who is retiring after 25 years of service with Basell and its predecessor companies. Just Jansz succeeds Breuers as president of the Technology Business after serving as senior vice president for Basell’s Advanced Polyolefins Business.

In his new role, Breuers will be responsible for Basell’s polypropylene and polyethylene activities in Europe; Jansz will be responsible for Basell’s licensing, catalysts and new ventures activities.

"Robert Genin contributed significantly to Basell in the pre-formation planning, the launch of our company in October 2000 and subsequently in leading Basell’s European polyolefins business during the first three years of its existence," said Volker Trautz, Basell’s CEO. "He has been a dedicated and valued contributor to the management of the company, and we will not only miss his deep experience and insight into the polyolefins industry, but also his lively character and personality."

Basell is the world's largest producer of polypropylene and advanced polyolefins products, a leading supplier of polyethylene and catalysts, and a global leader in the development and licensing of polypropylene and polyethylene processes. Basell, together with its joint ventures, has manufacturing operations in 20 countries and its products are sold in more than 120 countries worldwide. The company’s web site address is www.basell.com.
